這首歌是1972年發行，原唱者John Henry Kurtz , 但本文所提供的版本是Dobie Gray 所唱，因為這是目前最受歡迎的版本。這首歌發行至今四十年，已被翻唱多次。最近的一次，是2003年被Uncle Kracker翻唱。白白胖胖的Uncle Kracker，他藏不住的頹廢感，似乎更適合這首歌。這首歌在原產地，大家好像很有默契，每隔一段時間，就有人翻唱這首歌，大家接力般的傳唱，也許是希望這首歌永遠不死吧！
根據在Youtube上的小道消息指出 (僅供參考，消息真偽請自行判斷)，這首歌本來是作者Mentor Williams寫給貓王唱的，不過當時貓王聽到Dobie Gray的試唱版本後就拒絕了這首歌。當時的Dobie Gray 只是在田納西州，曼非斯城(Memphis)的一個小小的代唱者。
